When you participate – and fundraise – in the Ride of Hope, you’re not just riding your bike. You’re driving life-changing research by Canada’s very best cancer scientists!
The Ride of Hope started because Terry’s younger brother, Darrell, wanted to do something special to mark the 35th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope. In 2015, Darrell and a small crew of riders cycled 350 km to the base of Mount Terry Fox, in British Columbia.
In the years since, this pedal-powered fundraiser has expanded to include Rides right across Canada.

Host a Ride of Hope or Ride your Way
We are looking for experienced cyclists with leadership qualities to organize a fundraising ride in communities across the country.
- Organize your cycling club and/or the cycling community for a challenging mountain, road or gravel bike adventure.
- Saddle up the stationary bikes with your spin class.
- Enlist your family and friends for a “Ride your Way” through your community.
NATIONAL RIDE OF HOPE
This year, Darrell is organizing a very special National Ride of Hope in honour of the 45th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope. This time, it’s literally a Ride as big as our country.
On June 9, a team of 10-12 cyclists will leave Vancouver and pedal 7,000 km to arrive in St. John’s on July 10. In addition to being an epic 32-day tribute to Terry’s legacy, it’s a powerful, poignant way to support his dream of a world without cancer.
As the National Ride makes its way across 9 provinces and through 13 cities, there will be opportunities for experienced cyclists to fundraise and join the peloton!
