Dr. Nadine Caron and Anna Solnickova join the iconic charitable organization to help continue Terry’s legacy and impact on cancer research
Vancouver, BC, August 28, 2024 – The Terry Fox Foundation is pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Directors to support its ambitious plans for growth, and amplify efforts to raise funds for life-changing cancer research across Canada.
Born and raised in Kamloops, BC, Dr. Nadine Caron completed her postgraduate fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco. It was her love for British Columbia that brought her home and since January 2005, she has been working as a General and Endocrine Oncology Surgeon at the University Hospital of British Columbia in Prince George, as well as teaching in the Northern Medical Program at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery. Nadine is the Founder of UBC’s Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health and has served on numerous boards and committees, including the BC Ministry of Health Advisory Committee on Provincial Health Goals, the Governing Council for the Canadian Institutes for Health Research and the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network and its Canadian Spectrum Working Group. She is a member of the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation; a mother, daughter, sister and an advocate for equity in access to cancer care and the research that drives it.
Anna Solnickova, CPA, CGA, brings 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, leadership, and management. Anna serves as Executive Officer of the Real Estate Compensation Fund Corporation, is an Advisory Board Member of the Canadian Book Club Awards, and launched CFO Consulting in October 2023. At 17, Anna was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma in her right knee. When she was 20, the cancer spread to her left lung. Having battled the same type of cancer that Terry faced, Anna credits his Marathon of Hope as the reason she was able to keep her leg and her life. Anna has been an active supporter of the Foundation since 2005 as a spokesperson, fundraiser, volunteer, and Run Organizer.
