Welcome to the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope - Commemorating the 45th Anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope!
In mid-June 2025, a small group of 12 cause-driven and passionate cyclists will ride 7,000 kilometres across the country from Vancouver, British Columbia to St. John’s, Newfoundland, fundraising and uniting Canadians in celebration of Terry’s historic Marathon of Hope and to support his legacy.
We are excited to have opportunities for all Canadians to join and support the Ride. For those who are avid Riders but might not have the legs or time for crossing the country, you can apply to be a Provincial Rider. Represent your province and Ride with the National Riders as they make their way through 9 provinces. The plan is you would connect with the Ride in the a.m. and ride with the team for the morning, or the day. You are responsible for getting to the Ride start and getting home from wherever you finish.
Do you possess the following traits? If this is you, we invite you to complete the online application below.
Team – “I am only one member of the Marathon of Hope. I am equal with all of you” – Terry Fox. A Terry Fox rider is a team rider who is always looking to support, encourage and assist those around him/her.
Cause-Driven/Passionate – “I could not leave the (cancer ward) knowing these faces and feelings would still exist even though I would be set free from mine. Somewhere the hurting must stop, and I was determined to take myself to the limit for this cause.” – Terry Fox. It feels good to give. We will be looking for people who have giving back high on their to do list.
Riding ability – “I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done.” – Terry Fox. Riding in a peloton at an average speed of 30km/hour for 100-240km is “not impossible” but it is not easy. Riders will need to be able to keep pace with the National Riders and have many kms under their tires riding in a group.
Fundraising – Terry ran across the country for one reason only – to raise funds for cancer research to end the suffering caused by cancer. This is what it’s all about, raising money. A selected rider will need to draw on their family, friends, work colleagues and extended community to fundraise. We hope each provincial rider is willing to set a minimum fundraising goal of $1,500. Let’s make Terry proud.
