Our Board

The Terry Fox Foundation is supported by an independent Board of Directors, which provides volunteer leadership to maintain Terry’s vision and principles in a wide range of fundraising activities for cancer research. The Board of Directors is responsible for the Foundation’s long-term financial health and for the growth and management of its financial assets.

Stephen Bear
Chair

Stephen Bear (Toronto) served as a Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company including leading McKinsey’s offices in Korea and Canada prior to his retirement in April 2013. Stephen has served as a board member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (including as Chair of the Board), Vice Chairman of Street Kids International, Chairman of the Foreign Investment Advisory Committee to the Seoul government in Korea, and as a member of the United Way of Toronto Cabinet. He currently sits on the board of Weizman Canada. At The Terry Fox Foundation, Stephen offers his consulting experience and his background in serving many boards.

Angela Carmichael

Angela Carmichael (Nova Scotia) is Founder and President, ReAgency Partners Inc. With over 25 years of communications experience, she understands the value of building successful partnerships and solid storytelling for communications success. A cancer survivor, Angela is a direct beneficiary of the Terry Fox Foundation work and shares Terry’s vision to live in a world free of cancer. Angela splits her time between Nova Scotia and Toronto and she and her family are active Terry Fox run participants and fundraisers.

Anna Solnickova

Anna Solnickova (Burnaby) is the Founder of CFO Consulting, a boutique Fractional CFO firm helping Canadian businesses with strategic financial guidance. She is also the Executive Officer of both Cove Mortgage Ltd. and the Real Estate Compensation Fund Corporation. Anna brings over 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, leadership, and management. At 17, Anna was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right knee. When she was 20, the cancer spread to her left lung. Having survived the same type of cancer Terry faced, Anna credits his Marathon of Hope with the medical advances that allowed her to keep her leg—and her life. She has been an active supporter of the Terry Fox Foundation since 2005 as a spokesperson, fundraiser, volunteer, and former Run Organizer. Anna also serves as a board member with the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC, the BC MIC Managers Association, the CMIC Mortgage Investment Corporation, and the Canadian Book Club Awards.

Chris Couture

Chris Couture (Winnipeg) is a retired PwC Partner, who spent 37 years serving clients in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Melbourne, primarily in the financial services sector. She was Chair of the PwC partnership board, Managing Partner of PwC Winnipeg, and Chair of the Manitoba Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) among others. Chris is a member of the Board of Wawanesa Insurance Companies and has also served on several nonprofit boards and committees including United Way of Winnipeg, Grace General Hospital, University of Manitoba, and Providence Healthcare Foundation. Chris is a current member of the Terry Fox Foundation Audit & Finance Committee and an enthusiastic participant in the annual Terry Fox Run.

Craig Jarvis

Craig Jarvis (Toronto) has built a fulfilling 40-year career as a Wealth Advisor with ScotiaMcLeod and has always believed that trust and meaningful connections are the foundation of success—both in business and in life. Inspired by his wife Judy, a former professional fundraiser, Craig developed a deep passion for volunteering and the profound impact it can have on communities. In the 20 years since, he has poured his time and energy into advancing Terry Fox’s dream of a world without cancer. His contributions include helping bring to life initiatives such as Marathon of Hope: The Musical, the Terry Fox Legacy Art Project mural, and the National Terry Fox Ride of Hope among others, and is honoured to now serve on the Board of Directors.

Emad Rizkalla

Emad Rizkalla (St. John's) is CEO and Founder of the Bluedrop group of companies. Over its three decades, Bluedrop has become a leader in workforce upskilling, credential management across economies, mission training, and advanced simulation technology. Emad was named one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40 while still under the age of 30, a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Memorial University’s Alumni of the Year for 2025. Emad has advised governments on how economies (and people) will be impacted by the current revolution in the workplace. His views on the workforce of the future, innovation, and corporate culture are referenced in several books. Emad has served on many nonprofit boards over his career and currently sits on the boards for Kids Eat Smart and the Harris Centre in addition to the Terry Fox Foundation.

Dr. Rodney Ouellette

Dr. Rodney Ouellette (Moncton) is a physician-scientist whose career has been dedicated to advancing cancer research, precision medicine, and molecular diagnostics for patients. He was instrumental in founding the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI), the New Brunswick Centre for Precision Medicine, and established and continues to lead the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Rodney has served on several advisory bodies including the Terry Fox Research Institute’s Scientific Advisory Committee, New Brunswick Health Research Foundation, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, and Prostate Cancer Canada. He has received numerous distinctions, including the Order of New Brunswick in 2025 and in July 2026, he was called to the Senate of Canada.

Ken Ottenbreit

Ken Ottenbreit (New York) is Senior Counsel in the New York office of Stikeman Elliott, a Canadian law firm. He was the long-time Managing Partner of the New York office and served on the Partnership Board of the firm for nine years. Ken also currently serves on the boards of the Canadian Association of New York, Ice Hockey in Harlem, and the East Coast U.S. International Leadership Council of the University of Toronto. Ken is a recipient of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for service to Canada and the University of Regina’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Ken is the Founder and Chairman of the annual New York City Terry Fox Run, credits Terry as his inspiration, and was one of 40 Canadians to write about Terry’s impact in the book, Forever Terry: A Legacy in Letters (2020).

Dr. Nadine Caron

Dr. Nadine Caron (Prince George) was born and raised in Kamloops, BC. She completed her postgraduate fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco. It was her love for BC that brought her home and since January 2005, she has been working as a General and Endocrine Oncology Surgeon at the University Hospital of British Columbia in Prince George, as well as teaching in the Northern Medical Program at UBC's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery. Nadine is the Founder of UBC’s Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health and has served on numerous boards and committees, including the BC Ministry of Health Advisory Committee on Provincial Health Goals, the Governing Council for the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network and its Canadian Spectrum Working Group. She is a member of the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation; a mother, daughter, sister and an advocate for equity in access to cancer care and the research that drives it.

Peter Simon

Peter Simon (Toronto) leads Spencer Stuart's Financial Services Practice in Canada and is a member of the firm’s North American CEO and Boards Practice and has been a long-time advisor to boards of directors on their overall composition, capabilities, and succession planning. A former investment banker and McKinsey & Company partner, Peter has more than 30 years of global financial services and governance strategy expertise. Growing up in Mississauga, Peter was inspired by Terry’s original run in 1980, his courage and determination, and the clarity of his vision to mobilize all Canadians in funding the research to eliminate cancer. He is humbled and honoured to bring his energies to the Foundation’s board.

Isadore Sharp
Chair Emeritus

Isadore Sharp (Toronto) is the Founder and Chairman of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Isadore reached out to Terry in the early days of his Marathon of Hope, offering both personal and corporate support for his run. When Terry was forced to finish due to a return of cancer, Isadore promised him, via telegram, that there would be an annual run in his name until a cure for all cancers was found. The Terry Fox Run at Wilket Creek Park in Toronto was founded by Isadore and is led by the employees of Four Seasons Home Office; the Run reached the $12 million mark in 2020.
