Welcome to the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope - Commemorating the 45th Anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope!
In mid-June 2025, a small group of 12 cause-driven and passionate cyclists will ride 7,000 kilometres across the country from Vancouver, British Columbia to St. John’s, Newfoundland, fundraising and uniting Canadians in celebration of Terry’s historic Marathon of Hope and to support his legacy.
A Terry Fox National Ride Committee (TFNRC) has been formed and will be responsible for identifying the 12 National Riders. We are looking for cyclists who represent our vast country including but not limited to gender, geography, diversity, youth and the not so youthful. Do you possess the following traits? If this is you, we invite you to complete the online application below.
Team – “I am only one member of the Marathon of Hope. I am equal with all of you” Terry Fox. A Terry Fox rider is a team rider who is always looking to support, encourage and assist those around him/her. You will be spending 24/7 in tough and tight conditions for 31 days.
Cause-Driven/Passionate – “I could not leave the (cancer ward) knowing these faces and feelings would still exist even though I would be set free from mine. Somewhere the hurting must stop, and I was determined to take myself to the limit for this cause.” Terry Fox. It feels good to give. We will be looking for people who have giving back high on their to do list.
Riding ability – “I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done.” Terry Fox. Riding across the country in a peloton is “not impossible” but it will not be easy. Riders will need to be able to ride 240 km a day for 31 days at an average pace of 30 km an hour. The plan is to select the 12 riders this summer to give them a year to properly train and prepare for the ride.
Fundraising – Terry ran across the country for one reason only – to raise funds for cancer research to end the suffering caused by cancer. We will encourage riders to set a fundraising goal of $45k for the 45th anniversary. A selected rider will need to draw on their family, friends, work colleagues and extended community to build a fundraising team. You cannot do it alone.
