Who are our Terry's Team Members?

In 1987, the Terry Fox Foundation introduced a special type of supporter: a Terry’s Team Member (TTM). Anyone who has had a personal diagnosis of cancer, is at any stage of cancer treatment or recovery, and participates in the Terry Fox Run, is welcome to join Terry’s Team. Terry’s Team Members are offered a special red version of the Terry Fox Run T-shirt to wear proudly at their community or school event.

If you would like to learn more or become a Terry’s Team Member, please contact us at national@terryfox.org or 1-888-836-9786.

About the Program

In the early years of the TTM initiative, many Run sites struggled to find one person who would participate as a Terry’s Team Member. Through the years, the idea of a “sea of red shirts” on Run Day has continued to grow and symbolizes that cancer research works! Seeing Terry’s Team Members wearing their special red “Terry’s Team” shirts before and on Run Day is truly inspiring.

We love to see Run Organizers reach out directly to members of their community to invite them to become a TTM, and then build on the relationships each Run season. We encourage those who can to register online at terryfox.org to receive their red shirt. There is no requirement to fundraise but it does allow the Foundation to open of channel of communication with these supporters and share news about our cancer research projects if they wish.

“There can be no reason for me to stop. No matter what pain I suffer, it is nothing compared to the pain of those who have cancer, of those who endure treatment.”
